From 30 May through 26 June 2023, the lunchroom of Museum Het Schip is hosting an exhibition with works by Paul Roosenstein.
Paul Roosenstein (1965) was born in Sneek and now lives in Koog aan de Zaan. Twenty years ago, he took an orientation course in visual arts at the FluXus art center in Zaandam - and was immediately captivated by printmaking in general, and the techniques of etching and lino in particular.
He decided to join the Zaans Grafisch Collectief, a group of about ten members engaged in various graphic techniques. While there, he initially focused on making etchings, but gradually began to work more and more with lino, especially the reduction technique, which uses multiple print runs and colors.
After a visit to Museum Het Schip, as with the fine art course, the spark immediately struck. Roosenstein came into contact with the Amsterdam School in the museum and became enchanted by the ever undulating shapes and experimental division of surfaces, as well as the details in the brickwork and window frames. Full of inspiration, he set to work. Over the years, Roosenstein created several works with the Amsterdam School as their theme.
All artwork on display is available for purchase directly from the artist.
