Museum Het Schip will be exhibiting a series of expressive drawings, 'Street Dreamers'' from 1 April to 31 May. These caricaturesque portraits are of striking Amsterdamers that form part of the collection of prints by Samuel Jessurun de Mesquita (1868-1944). These works are imaginitive renderings that came into fruition in a subconcious, almost thoughtless manner. De Mesquita’s style fits well with the Amsterdam School style. Furthermore he knew many Amsterdam School artists and he was also involved with the magazine Wendingen for which he designed nine covers.

The drawings are on loan from the Jewish Historical Museum. They compliment the exhibition 'Samuel Jessurun De Mesquita' that will be shown in the JHM till 12 June 2017.
